Next week we will be reading a Situationist text by Raoul Vaneigem called "The Revolution Of Everyday Life" the whole book is online but we will only read a few chapters that seem most interesting, but i encourage all to explore the other chapters/the whole book. This text looks at society and dissects in an anarchistic and youthful easy to read tone, so check it out and see if you share the same perspective/call to action.
Chapters:
Creativity, spontaneity, and poetry
Masters without slaves
You're fucking around with us?-Not for long!
plus any others that you feel intrigued by.
Notes on the Zine:
We have decided to embark upon the creation of a Zine. We thought to ourselves that a theme would create a more cohesive zine rather than a mash of unrelated rantings. So the theme is on the idea of a guide book. A guide book ( kind of like a guide to everyday resistance, a guide to stickin' it to the man, anti-capitalist guide to the good life...etc) from everything like how to make your own underwear, soap and shampoo, to how to survive the apocalypse, how to organize a protest, how to fight global warming, to how to make a molotov cocktail, pretty much anything we can think of, hopefully it will be clever and smart, and good looking stylistically. zines are all about the cut and pasted look but we can talk about that later on. We should set deadlines and layout rules pretty soon, but everyone should think about what they can contribute, anything can be a "how to" if you just find a way to connect it back. Send topic ideas to the whole group email at radicalthought@lists.riseup.net so that we can all see what eachother are writing about. We also mentioned the idea of having a Zine event, music and selling zines etc, possibly at the peace and justice center. So get thinkin on what you can work on for the zine.
